About Rozella Linden
I learned tatting from my mother and grandmother before I started kindergarten, but I didn’t do a lot of tatting until I was a teenager. There weren’t many tatting patterns easily available back then.
My real life name is Ruth Perry. I was born in Warren, Ohio. I’m married to my sweetheart, Dan, and we have 5 grown children and 6 wonderful grandkids! Plus two spoiled Pomeranian dogs, Tana and Claire.
When I was teaching tatting at Southwestern Michigan College community education program, my students told me I had to write a book because they were able to learn tatting from my class when everything else they had tried failed.
So I looked up information about writing a book. My first book, Easy Tatting, was written in 1994, and Dover Publishing released it as part of the Dover Needlework Series in 1999.
My second book is called Celtic Tatting - Knots & Patterns - Handy Hands 2003.
I publish under a pen name, Rozella Florence Linden. That is my grandmother’s first name, my mother’s middle name, and my sister’s favorite tree. My sister helped me pick out the pen name. Everyone I knew who tatted was either in my family, or someone we had taught to tat until the 90s.
I am a computer systems engineer with a hobby that got out of hand - TATTING! I met Dan while working on the Y2K projct at Lexis-Nexis in Miamisburg Ohio. We enjoy our family, SCUBA diving, and just plain enjoying life.
I design tatting, write, and teach tatting. I have enjoyed teaching all over the USA, and next year I’ll be going up to Canada to teach too.
